Ziva Emtiyaz! The "bright and radiant" Dancer
Ziva is from the San Francisco Bay Area. Her bright and radiant performance style has enticed audiences throughout the United States and captured the hearts of many. As a Middle Eastern dance artist, instructor, and performer, Ziva has been able to share her passion for the art form with dancers and musicians alike.
Ziva discovered belly dance with Middle Eastern dance artist Shoshanna, and continued seeking instruction from several other valued performers and choreographers. While Ziva enjoys studying all styles of Middle Eastern dance, she focuses most of her energy on developing her Egyptian Raqs al Sharqi style.
In seizing a strong foundation in Raqs al Sharqi bellydance, Ziva has embraced the art of expressing the dynamic qualities of Middle Eastern music. With training from master percussionist and 2008 grammy nominee Souhail Kaspar, Ziva blossomed into an exciting and interpretive performer. Ziva enjoys accompanying Kaspar throughout the United States to help coach dancers in his extremely popular Rhythm and Movement workshop. The success of the Rhythm and Movement workshop has brought Ziva to California, Arizona, Nevada, Colorado, North Carolina, Kansas, Florida, Washington D.C., and as far as Turkey! Last August Ziva returned to Middle Eastern Music and Dance Camp to teach the R&M workshop for the third year in a row.
Ziva enjoyed dancing two years for the award winning Ya Habibi Dance Company. She was the featured guest artist in the instructional DVD: Rhythm and Movement for Egyptian Raqs Al-Sharqi Vol. III.
One of Ziva's most recent accomplishments include being selected as a competition winner for Jillina's Bellydance Evolution. Ziva performed as part of the cast in Immortal Desire's 2010 Los Angeles production.
Currently, Ziva teaches belly dance and fitness two times a week at Berkeley's cutting-edge studio Hipline. "Ziva's infectious positive energy and deep understanding of Belly Dance make her a very popular instructor among the clients at Hipline."
She also teaches a weekly Raqs Sharqi Bellydance technique class in Petaluma.
Ziva enjoys entertaining audiences at private parties, concerts, art galleries, restaurants, weddings and other festive gatherings. All in all, Ziva is an intriguing performer and a dedicated instructor whose dance style lies in the heart of the music. Her show is purely enjoyable, absolutely unforgettable, and can’t be missed!
